Welcome Students and Parents Mr. Kirk 7th and 8th Grade Social Studies Room 908
Welcome Students and Parents to the 2018-2019 school year here at Tucson Country Day School. My name is Isaiah Kirk and I am a 7th and 8th grade Social Studies teacher. I am extremely excited about teaching here at the Tucson Country Day School. This unique school seems to radiate the very essence of a positive learning environment. I am very fortunate to be a part of the team of dedicated teachers and staff who work here. This year is just beginning and already it’s looking to be a year which will be both amazing and adventurous. So that you know a little more about me, please allow me to draw for you a quick biographical sketch. I am originally from upstate New York. I moved here eight. I am engaged to the love of my life, Veronica. I have a eighteen year old stepson named Cruz and a five year old son named Liam. My children are the best thing that ever happened to me and they bring my indescribable joy. I have a long history in Academia and a very diverse background from which I draw my inspiration and information. I have an associate degree in Liberal Arts and Humanities with an emphasis on Physics from Dutchess Community College in New York, a bachelor degree in Philosophy and Religion from SUNY New Paltz in New York, a Masters in Arts degree in Consciousness Studies from Goddard College in Vermont, and finally, a Masters in the Art of Teaching degree in History and Education from Bard College in New York. It is my intention to eventually continue on in my education and earn a doctorate degree. My pedagogical philosophy is rather simple and boils down to inspiration and hard work. I believe that every student can be successful given that they are inspired and work hard. I approach my role of teacher as I approach all other aspects in my life, by giving 100% of myself to the task at hand. I will do all in my power to educate, inspire and empower the students in my classroom. I also believe that the role of the students’ parents is of prime importance to the success of each and every student’s education. I will therefore keep and open and reciprocal dialogue with all parents in our school’s community. In addition, this year I will also be running the Student Government. In conclusion, I’m looking forward to an incredible year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to me regarding them and I will return a reply quickly and appropriately. I am enthusiastically embracing this school year and I invite all of you to do so as well. Together as teachers, students and parents we shall succeed and have a wonderful school year.
